Heat exchanger outlet cover
I have the early style SSI heat exchangers on a 1983sc motor. I do not plan on using the heating system in the car. Does anyone know if you have to and how to cover the outlets on the exchanger if you do not plan on running them to the heater blower?

Good idea not to let debris, leaves, road grime settle into the exchangers.
Why not just run the appropriate silicon ducting to the flapper valves (make sure they are open). That would solve the problem on one side. The other side (or both if you prefer) just use a heat resistant material and cover then tighten into place with a hose clamp. I've read that air must flow through to keep the system cool, however. Not sure I beleive that school of thought, though. good luck, Doug
