Engine Stand Adapter Ring I can borrow or buy. I am in los angeles. I can give deposit if you wish. Please let me know.

If you have a traditional engine stand with the 4 arms, you can use that on the engine - you just use the 4 transmission bolts.

I have use the good old American engine stand for 2 rebuilds and currentlly on my third. Never had a problem. I have cut 2 washers (per stud) in a moon like fashion (to clear ridges) to actually spread the load of the engine support into the face of the block and not on the ridges. See enclosed picture... I did the exact same thing - using large nuts that I ground to fit around the ring on the case, and some extra nuts and washers. Takes a little thinking to get those arms arranged just right - I think I did mine a little differently than in your pic.
'Da book of course says use the adapter or risk tweaking the case - but my machinist verified my case was ok. Then again, mine is a 3.6L aluminum case - can't speak for earlier potentially weaker ones. |
