G50/03 conversion in a 79 930
What needs to be done to fit this transmission into a 79 930? I know the bell housing needs to be shortened, but what about the front mount? I do not want to cut the car or mess with the torsion bar assembly.
I already have the plumbing, pedal kit, slave/master cylinders, etc. Will this tranny fit this car? Thanks |
Hi Don,
I think that is a G50 from a 87-89 Carrera, correct? If so it should fit no problem. You will need to dissasemble the tranny completely. Mach the belhousing and input shaft. You will have to mod the shifter coupler also. When I did my conversion I used my old 915 front mount and redrilled hole for the tranny. Dean |
The G50.03 was used in the model 964 from MY90 onward, the G50.01 and G50.02 were used between 1987-1989. I'm looking for a G50.03 bellhousing if you know anyone selling. :)

Don. Are you doing it now because the 915 is gone? Or for better shifting. I recall a big difference from my G50 to 915(1983 SC).
p.s Is your 915 different internally than SC915? Regards, |

right. I had a question to ask here. Lets see...
Don. Is 4 sp going. If so what is happening to it. Will you be going with stock g50. Regards, |
Bernard - I've decided to keep my 930 4sp box since the cost of upgrading to the G50 is so expensive.
