Had rebuild- noisy tappets

Hi had a full rebuild on my 85 3.2 and after approx 600 miles got fairly noisy tappets, is this a problem or should I wait until its fully run in at 1000 miles before having them reset? Thanks.

Did the rebuild include new cams?

No the cams were replaced 10k before.

I wouldn't worry that you have a flat cam then. Drain the oil in the tank and sump and check for particulate matter- anything that would indicate something gone ary. It probably wouldn't hurt to check that everything is still torqued properly and that your valve clearance isn't excessive. These are all things that I would typically do after a rebuild anyways.

It's better to hear the valves in a new engine than smell the valves.
After 1000 mile just readjust the valves. You should be fine.

Its when you dont hear them you should worry.

I'd check to ensure there is sufficient oil coming from the spray bars as well...

Did they replace the adjusters in the rockers. My tappets are still noisy after my rebuild and thats one thing I didn't replace. Other people on this board have had the same problem and the cause was worn adjusters.

No the adjusters weren't replaced.
