Re-build and oil leak.......

Hi my horrors with my first 911 continue....had the 3.2 re-built in October (covered 600 miles so far)and it drips oil down from the fan end of the engine and then runs along where the crankcase joins and has left a small pool 4 inches by 4 inches. The specialist who did the work is a distance from me and if it's simple will get it done locally. Any ideas?

It could be one of a few things. 1. Easiest to fix, a pinched countershaft cover plate oring. 2. The pulley seal may have gotten damaged upon installation. 3. Worst to fix, the nose bearing oring got pinched or is the incorrect size.
I wish you luck and I hope its a simple fix.

That's true. The worst is the o-ring between the case and the nose bearing. You have to completely tear-down the motor to fix it. Otherwise you can JB-weld (epoxy) around it and it will last for a few months. This drip is not detrimental to engine longevity or performance so most folks just live with it. I had this on a RS America of mine. We just epoxied it every so often.

If you can ascertain that the leak is coming from the nose bearing, ask the rebuilder if he put a new one in, new o-ring and how precisely did he install it. Did he put o-ring lube on the o-ring and nothing else on bearing or did he apply some sealant to the o-ring area and bearing?

thanks
