price check 2.4 7R case
 

I have a complete bottom end from a 2.4, and it is a 7R case ,I was going to use it to convert it to a 2.7 carrera rs engine, but somebody told me not to bore out the 2.4 case, to leave it alone because they are rare.

Is this true? or should I just bore it out to 2.7

What is a 2.4 7R case worth? I could sell it and use the money towards my project

True on rarity; they were only made for one half of one year. They are valuable but only to people with the 73 1/2 911T w/ CIS injection.

Not true. They are valuable to racers limited to/desiring the smaller spigots.

As Bill pointed out, these cases are popular for racers but when you figure the number of racers that want this case to the number of cases available then the rarity doesn't drive the cost up as much as one might think. It's all supply and demand.

I would have the line bore measured. This affects the value of the case as much as anything. If it's good, as they often are on 2.4T cases, then I would keep it to build your 2.7RS on. You'll end up spending any money you make selling this case refurbishing the line bore of just about any 2.7 case out there and even after they are re-bored they are never really "true" again.

Interesting; I thought racers were limited by vintage and spigot bore, thus my belief that the 7R case wasn't desirable to them. Ya learn somthing new every day.
