2.0 tnesioners and arms
I'm getting two different opinions about idler arms and what to do. Would appreciate input from those that know. I'm replacing the tensioners in my 2.0 with the spring-loaded 930 units. (Part of a complete re-build.) I've got the spacers and the fail-safe collars. What about the arms? My originals have bushings and appear to be in good shape, along with the sprockets. Is it necessary to replace these with the later model pieces? Thank you!

It is not necessary since you have the spacers but I would recommend it. You should be able to find a used set of the later arms relatively cheap.

Thanks for the reply! What is at issue here? Is it the width of the operating surface that contacts the tensioner?

The theory is that the double bushing spreads the load better and reduces the chances of the arm binding. It was thought that the tensioner failures could have been caused by binding arms. Just one of those things that is relatively inexpensive and probably makes sense to upgrade while you are in there. Just my $.02
