MFI rebuild tools
Anyone know where I can buy a few of the specialized tools for rebuilding the MFI pump? I can nooldle out things like the flyweight puller, but the tool for removing the barrel nut that holds the flyweight on would need a heat treat and the is more than I want to engage in at the moment.
Thanks in advance, tadd

Oh, come now...
This vast knowlage base and no one can tell me where to get some tools? I machined up a tool to get the flyweight barrel nut off and then hit it with oxy-propane till it was salmon in color and then dropped it in to a bucket of water. No sheared ears this time like with no heat!
Also made up a little puller and the flyweights just popped right off nice. (I'd post a few pics, but work won't allow it.) What I REALLY need is the pins to hold the pumps compressed so I can get the cam/crank shaft out. They have a moon shape to them... I can make them if I have too, but I would really like to just buy them. I would hate to think of pelican as a 'second rate' info source! ![]() tadd

?????
Ok, I'll beg...
Does anyone at all know where I can get the six pins with the half-moon bevel that hold the MFI plungers compressed so that the cam can be removed? The local bosch diesel shops tell me they can't even access the gas systems parts supply. I have three stuck pumps and have not been able to free them by force, so the units need to come out and be cleaned/checked. Thanks in advance, tadd

Tadd, according to legend Bosch sold the entire inventory of spare parts and repair equipment for the gasoline pumps to Koller und Schwemmer.
http://www.koller.de/ You might try sending them an email, but you can literally count on one hand the number of shops who are competent to reassemble the pump and correctly calibrate it. I would say the odds of any of them parting with original repair tools are slim to none, you might be better off machining your own. If you consider that the price and turnaround time for this stuff, even if it is available, will be astronomical, that's an even greater incentive to roll-your-own. Good luck! Stijn Vandamme has dealt with Koller in the past for his pump rebuild, you might PM him to ask who he spoke with.

Thank you! I had a scary feeing this might be the case with the complete lack of info by the bosch shops... Once again, that which is pelican amazes me with what I don't know. tadd
