n 8 bearing
Hello
I'm on the rebuilding process right now... (2.7RS engine) may you answer my question concerning the n°8 bearing sealing, : i've decided to use threebond 1211 in this area, shall i close the case, just after installing the crank or can i wait till tommorrow to end the job ?.... thanks Philippe |

My only thought is that if you have the threebond on there, it will be attracting/collecting dust. I'm assuming that threebond doesn't set-up until you have an absense of air.

don't put the threebond 1211 on until you're ready to seal up. it WILL congeal in open air.
don't forget the new o-ring on the #8 bearing also.

Got it from a guy on rennlist. I figured it wouldn't be good form to use it on the same forum, and he wasn't using it here so I thought what the heck. always brings a smile to my face!
Free advice - have EVERY single part you're going to use in ONE PLACE all together before sealing up. I forgot one of the rubber grommets on the oil pump because it was sitting a few feet away from all the other parts. Don't forget the chains. use a dry-erase marker cap to put the through-bolt o-rings on. HOLD the bolt side of the through-bolt while tightening the nut. If the bolt side spins it can tear the o-ring against the rather sharp case surface.

Check out the 964 rebuild thread by axl911 - good illustration. I used some kind of highlighter marker cap with the pocket clip removed. Size is key - the dryerase axl911 recommends, expo (small size) seems to have worked well for him. It was his idea, not mine.
