gasket configuration help

Could someone tell me which way this goes on? Wayne's book cautions that if installed upside down there can be a serious oil leak. It can go any of 4 different ways. Thank you!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1145754115.jpg

On a 2.0 there is no wrong way.
Well you do have to get the gasket over all for studs.:)

On my 964, there is a part of the case that is indented to match the extra bump on the inside of the gasket.

So, the material inside the perimeter is for another application? And just qurious Henry, do you ever use any type of sealant on this or the chain case pieces? I know the book says "no", but this block is 40 years old, and God only knows, how many re-builds. If I had nice new pieces, I wouldn't ask. Thank you!

We use a thin coat of 574 Loctite.
When I say thin, I mean thin. Just make it wet.

Lay the gasket on a piece of glass and use your finger to wipe the 574 on. Then flip it and do it again.
