3.2SS Build - Camshaft Housing

Well, not living close to any P-car shop, I brought my parts to a local machine shop for cleaning and bead blasting. I told them what was only to be cleaned and NOT bead blasted - such as the camshaft housings.

I just picked up the parts and I see that they used something abrasive on the rocker to head sealing surface!!! Here are some pics...

Can someone comment on how bad this is? And what should I do?

It dosent look horrible as long as the surface is flat (not warped). I'd still go over again with scotchbrite and solvent, then clean with rubbing alcohol. Maybe even go over with very mild wet/dry and block to knock down any peaks. Again, make sure you clean very well before applying sealant.

The loctite574 (or whatever you choose) will fill the (what apperars to be very minor) scratches.

I agree with Charlie's advice. I think you will be fine.

Thanks guys,

After getting over my heart attack, I looked closely at Wayne's book and noticed scratch marks on the pictures of his cleaned up camshaft housings too.

Scrotch brite has cleaned it up a lot.

Use threebond 1104 on those to seal them and you will have no trouble at all. Pernatex spray on gasket remover will get rid of the residual loctite 574 that shows in the pictures.

Cheers
