1979 Sc Redux

Please excuse my ignorance, I am new to Porsche repairs.
I do have some experience with other autos.

My two questions are:

1. I have noticed that Porsche has made extensive use of
rubber o-rings in sealing parts.

O- rings work well until the rubber breaks down, then they crack and leak. My SC is >25 yrs..

Has anyone tried using new rubber o-ring seals + permatex silicone gasket to seal parts when making repairs?

if so what are the results?

2. My original SC muffler is a 1 in - 1 out design.

Does anyone know if the single design muffler could be modified to have 2 in and 2 out?

In other words is the internal baffle structure of the single muffler the same
as 2 in and 2 out?
thanks

dow corning 111 works best to keep all the o rings plyable for years..
as for the muffler a 1 in 1out can not be converted to a 2 in 2out with out complatly taking it apart for rerouting. You could convert it to a 1 in 2out if you like that would work
