Chain Housing and JB Weld

Wayne's book describes covering the back of the chain covering housings with JB weld where there is a chain rail post.

However, I'd like to confirm that I should use JB weld on the INSIDE of the chain housing - near the mating of the chain housing to the case there are 3 spots between the two housing that have some coating on them - these seem to coat a plug.

I once asked the same question but never really got a solid reply. I did end up puting a small smear of JB Weld on mine and so far no problems. I wonder what they used originally at the factory for this? Its still a mystery.

The epoxy is used to help seal any leaks and also hold the plugs into place. Plugs on the inside don't need to worry about leaks. If the factory used epoxy there (yes, as shown in your photo), then I would do that as well...
