Valve seat replacement

Howdy all:
I have done a bunch of searching on replacing (enlarging) valve seats and I found on post where Henry (Mr. Supertec) said that the only dropped seats he has seen were replaced ones.

Is seat replacement a no no?

I have a set of 914-6 (42/38mm) heads and would like to change the intakes to 69S (45mm). The exhausts are only a single mm shy so I will live with them as is - rather than chase down and pay for another set of heads. Doing only six should also cut down on the cost I would think (I would do the ports and TP myself).

Any opinions on this procedure, and if doable, suggestions on who?

Thanks for any input,

Tadd

big seats

We do larger seats on all the race engines that we build, they work well if they are installed with the correct interference fit, we have never had a dropped seat, there is a greater risk of loosing a seat if you bore the cross section out of the stock size seat to get more flow, by the way the seats are custom made for each application.

Well they were istalled originally the same way they are replaced so I would assume, and do practice, that installing them with .005 interference it would be as good as new.
I have had not problem at all, try Olllies in Santa Ana they are really experts in this proceedure.

Best regards
