What dose the M8 stamped in the..
 
on my 1975 S- driver door pillar by the hinges, there are the letter and number stamped in there M8 near a little riveted tag (I think that's the paint code on the riveted tag)........but the M8.....???? what is that ??

Hi afterburn,

I`m not able to tell you why it is there, but M8 means Metrisch 8 Millimeter, this is the designation of the thread of a screw or nut.

Maybe there were versions with other threads for the door hinges earlier? I don`t know which threads they wanted to highlight.

Hmmmmm leads me to ask why are other areas not marked ?? The factory went to a big expense to have this stamped in there......... and it is raised like embosed ?? like means something to i.d. the car
