Oil Pressure Relief Valve Spring Length

In the 964 Technical Data Without Guesswork book the Oil Pressure Relief Valve Springs are spec'd at 70mm and 89mm length. I measured the lengths at 66mm and 85mm, respectively. First, is the shortened length an issue? If yes, is there a method to lengthen them or should they be purchased new? | ||

4 mm isn't terrible, but personally I'd buy new since they are out of spec. Not expensive, I believe.

I had low oil pressure in my engine at first, topping out in the 50 psi range at 6000 RPM. I didn't measure the pressure relief spring before I put it back in--after all, it's just an oil pressure spring, what can go wrong? So then I pulled it out and measured it: 87.9mm. That's not far off the spec, not enough to account for the slightly low oil pressure. So I shimmed it up using a spare m6 nut in the bottom of the cap. That brought it up to 60psi. I suppose my oil pressure gauge or sender are out of spec, but I haven't got around to measuring those yet. Yes, it's on my do list. Too many other things to do.
