Thumbs up South Florida shops?

Guys, I need your feedback on local shops to build me a hotrod motor. (West Palm, DelRey, Pompano) Luckily, I have read enough about Mr. Meister...

I have a bitz-a-EFI-ed (bitz~u-fIdE) 3.0L. (love it btw!)

Thoughts on mods would be good also.

I am thinking 3.2L p&c's @ 9.8:1 w/ GE40's.... Maybe loose the distributor.

(anyone in WPB have a 41mm super tool for a 915 box?) I'll buy ya a beer!!

Thanks.

So you like the slipperry slope do ya?

There are only a couple of shops in that area, next closest is Ft Laud. But it sounds like you are going for the pleasure of doing it yourself, and what you want is a machine shop and a builder (notice I didnt say assembler). I have their phone numbers somewhere, but not with me.

Are you looking to dyno it too? JB Racing in Taveres (Orlando, FL) does very good Porsche work.

Regards,

-Gulf Performance in Pompano (Vinnie Colosino) they built and service my rodded SC

-901 Shop in Stuart (Jack/Brady Refenning) - more of a race than street shop but you have more knowledge there than in most other shops IMHO

-Mike Bruns (JB Racing) very knowledgeable also but farther from you. Been around forever + hes a really nice guy and (good driver...). They make/sell some really high end stuff also which is consumed by most top notch race shops which is a definite vote of confidence

-Butch Stokes in the Miami/Hollywood area. Have not used him but have heard good things of him.

- Foreign Affairs (I believe still in Pompano) - Bob Varela another eally knowledgeable guy and awesome racer.

There is the 901 shop in S. Stuart and also a shop called Scuderia Silvestri a couple miles further north, though I dont know how their 911 work is (they do have 911 and 912 race cars in the shop now).

901 will send their machine work out to JB or another place in Miami area, but I don't know their name. Very nice place and I'll be taking some of my parts there in the next few weeks.

The JB guys I talked with were very nice and profesional, but I chose to go with the 901 shop directly because its literally 5 minutes down the road and I wanted to have a good personal contact that was easy for me to get to. Though their web page totally sucks.

enjoy!

-Michael

Juan...

I guess you didn't notice the drool marks all over your cars... I'm pretty sure they'll come off

I spent about 2 hours with Brady looking in his pile of pistons for a 9.8:1 Euro SC replacement. No luck, but lots of fun. Brady also showed me the sun roof replacement. I'm thinking I'll do that on mine... at some point... Very impressive job. I could not even tell.

Best regards,

Michael

So you are the culprit......

I wish I had known, I sold a set of Euro 3 liter SC pistons a couple of months ago (cheap too).

Take care, Juan
