Cams/chip for 3,2
Hi,
I'm going to install a 3,2 in my 1971 911T, but i am looking for some good tuning advice before i fit it in there. I was thinking of some cams and maybe a chip. Any opinions on this? Where are my money best spent, and what gain am i looking at? Where to buy it and prices would be nice too... Fuel economy has a bit to say, as i live in Denmark and fuel cost more than 6$ per gallon!:( thanks -Mike:) |
The 3.2 is computer controled and works well with a chip (mine revs past 7200[ ask me how I found out :]). Our host sells a chip. I have heard Steve Wong has one that can be customized.
I like your idea of making her a little hot, but have you thought of 3.6? Otherwise I trust you will really enjoy a stock 3.2 with chip and backdated (eg SSI) exhaust. Regards, |
My last motor was a 3.2 with SSI's and 964 cams and a steveW chip. It would have been great in an early car.
Cheers |
i recently watched a longhood w/ a euro 3.2 (w/ SSI i believe) at an autocross. after seeing that thing go i would suggest spending money first on getting suspension tight, second on good tires, and third on track time.
this car was just flat out angry when it went around the track. unreal to watch. Good luck! |
I think 993 SS cams on a euro 3.2 would be a great combination - just make sure you have a very free flowing exhaust to take advantage of the extra air - (like bigger than SSI's).
That and a custom Steve Wong chip and you'll have more car than you need... |
An style early exhaust or header system with yield greater results that any other single item. Cam, chips, airflow meters will all yield some improvement but a clean / equal length exhaust is by far the best update.

Henry,
I have a 3.2 and would like to figure out a cost effective back dated exhaust setup even if I don't have heaters/etc. I could put it in and use on the track and then go back to stock with cat out for driving to work everyday. Do you have any suggestions? I have a 964 cam and stock chip but an after market chip came with the car. Right now I'm working to make sure all the DME/O2sensor/etc. is working properly. |
