jerry woods mods

Hello
i once saw a "jerry wood" mod. on spring loaded tensionner...
they told to add a piece under the spring, right ?
any advice on this mod ?

I heard Jerry talk about this last week. They used it as a failsafe. Be carefull not to make it to long, and thus, make your tensioner close to rigid. If I recall, he used this method prior to the clamps now available.

I made some out of 6160 bushing material. If you get, if I remember correctly, a 5/8" motor bushing from OSH the OD is right on.

I can't remember how much I left for play and thermal expansion maybe 1 mm. I cut off a slice with a hacksaw and then sanded to a final thickness...it's a bit time consuming.

My feeling is this method is better than the clamp because the parts are contained. I would strongly recommend doing it.
