Local sealants for rebuild?
I am in Atlanta and thought that things like Curil -T, Hylomar and Threebond would be readily available but I have called a ton of different parts stores and dealerships and most have never even heard of them.
I got Yamabond from the Yamaha store. I called Mazda for the Hylomar because it is what is used in the rebuilding of rotary engines but they don't carry any. What kind of places would carry these sealants locally? I purchased the super sealant kit along with all the rebuild parts from Pelican but after 3 weeks, I'm still waiting on some of the parts and the sealants. I have everything to put the case together except for these sealants. |
Buy Hylomar online as Permatex is stopping production of thier own brand..

Supertec (Pelicanner Henry Schmit) sells the Threebond 1211.

Thanks guys but I was curious to know if anyone had found this stuff in a major city like mine and what kind of place it was that had it so I could go about finding it here in Atlanta rather than having to order it over the net.
I have already purchased all these sealants or equivalents from Pelican but they were out of stock and will probably be another week or so before I get them and I would like to find these locally to get on with the build. I just rebuilt a rotary engine which uses Hylomar on most of the seals and came with the rebuild kit and was amazed that the Mazda dealer had no idea what Hylomar was or even what kind of sealant they use in rebuilding rotaries! I guess Mazda dealer service departments don't do that kind of work. I have read through all the posts about sealants and none of them has ever had someone say, "yeah, I found that at my local parts store". Are these things really that specialized that the only way to get them is to order them over the net and wait? |

Permatex used to make their own packaged Hylomar that you could buy in any autostore that carried their products, but no longer produce it. I'm not sure why they stopped. Threebond products are independent dealer only or online, prerd to find in local stores. ttyl, |
