Flyweel crank seal a little crooked

After sealing the case yesterday, it is apparent that the flywheel crank seal is a little crooked. As you may be able to see in the photo, the bottom is about 1/16" further in than the top. Where is the seal supposed to be? Should I be concerned?
Thanks,
-Scott

Thanks, Mike. It was no big deal to carefully pry out the seal and reinstall it.

With two small flat blade screw drivers, working my way around the outside of the seal with the blades about 3cm apart.

HI i hope you have not nicked the seal with drivers, as it looks like a silicon seal.

Hi,

I am going to be doing the seal myself in a few days. I can imagine that it would be easy to get the seal off centre when the cases are being put together. Is there a bet6ter way of doing it? I was thinking of putting it in the cases but sticking out a little , then tapping it home after the cases are done up. What do you guys think?

Regartds,
Greg

HI Greg i usually fit the seal in the case while fitting the 2 half's to gether, fit the crank and then the seal, line up with outside of the case and pop the other case on and while the cases come together check the seal is OK, adjust the seal to fit correctly in the cases, flush with the outside edge, and then finally tighten down, if not leave the seal out and fit later, if you partly fit the seal the cases grip the seal, when you knock in the seal in the outside of the seal could get torn a small amount at the joints of the cases.

regards mike

I don't think that I nicked the seal. I had used Curil-T when installing, which actually seems to make it easier to move the seal around. I guess I could pull it out and get a new one to be absolutely sure. I like Mike's suggestion. As this was my first time sealing up a case, I found that there were a lot of things occupying my attention. The seal was not on that list. A little attention to it would likely have avoided the issue.
