Removing Head temp sensor
Does anyone know what tools you need to remove the head temp sensor (I think it's the head temp sensor?)on a 85 Carrera? I cannot fit a wrench into the tight space to turn the nut.

You need to cut a slot into a socket or or grind down a box end wrench to clear it........ (14mm IIRC)

Is that the only way!? It a shame to destroy a good wrench.

You don't have to use a good wrench.

If you are planning to install a new sensor, just cut the wires and use a socket to remove the old one.
Goop the threads of the new one with antiseize and use a metric adjustable to snug it up. |
When I replaced mine I was able to use a Craftsman flare nut wrench. Fit perfectly and the Snap-on was too big to fit.

Snap on makes a slotted socket but it costs than most people are willing to pay.
Lisle tool makes a bunch of slotted sockets for removing oxygen sensors, and I think you can get slotted sockets from Napa auto. |
