3.0 to 3.2 Engine Rebuild
When it comes to Porsche engine rebuilds, I'm a virgin! (I have rebuild other engines though).
I'm going to tackle a 3.0 engine rebuild over the Winter, since I have found one broken head stud. I have a few questions that I would like you guys to answer: 1. The vehicle (1980 911 SC) has run 101,000 miles, does this automatically mean new pistons/cylinders? Or do I need to measure a few things before making that decision? 2. Can I easily increase the engine displacement? 3.2 L or larger? 3. If I decide to supercharge the engine, can I buy pistons to suit the lower compression ratio? Any ideas on the relationship between compression ratio/boost level and power? Regards Mike |
Here's a thread you should read. Welcome to the board!

100k miles is not that much for there engines. You may find the pistons and cylinders still within spec.
