Intermediate Shaft Sprocket Removal

Hello Gents,

I am in the process of replacing the gear and both sprockets on my 3.0L intermediate shaft and have a question.

After removing the large snap ring, the first sprocket on the oil pump end came off easily using a press:

EDIT: Splitting my question into 2 posts because the site is having some issues with my photo uploads.

The other sprocket has me a bit confused though.

After removing the snap ring, I will press it off diameter A, but will it clear diameter B? I dont have any calipers at the moment to be able to check.

Is diameter B a separate component that needs to be removed? Otherwise what is the purpose of this little snap ring on the end?

Want to be sure before I unleash 15 tons of force on the second sprocket! Thanks in advance.

Hi.

No problem, just press, it will pass B.
Just did mine yesterday.

Thanks for confirming! So do you need to do anything with the small snap ring on the end? Ignore it?

That's your clean out remove snap ring and plug will come out very easy with 6mm bolt
Now you can get out all the crap inside there and put it back together
