Help me confirm GE60 cam timing spec
Checking cam timing (78 3.0) and have some old notes that show GE60 cam timing spec to be 4.8 - 5.2 but would like to confirm this spec is correct. Anyone???

Yes that will work. I use 5.0 mm.

I have just setup a GE80 cam and found it hard due to the large ramp up on the cam. When you remove the pin to reset then the pressure from the spring moves the cam. This is using a bolt type cam if you have the nut type then youare able to hold the cam still.
I used the degree wheel to set the cam. Basically opening up the rocker gap to the value and then and then rotating the engine until the opening degree is reached. When doing this the ramp up on the cam is minimal and once the pin is removed the cam does not turn. Hope thsi helps.........although if you did not have the mm value you probably do not have the degree values either. Mark..... |
