Twin Plug or not?

My 2.5 Race engine has 10.2:1 compression ratio. Its just about time to to refreshen the engine (40 hours) I am thinking about racing the CR to 11:1 or 11.5:1. Should I go twin plug? I possibly have a line on an RSR distrib. w Motec ignition. Will this work on my carbed engine? The RSR/Motec is from a 3.3 L single turbo engine. I realize my case needs machining to accept the RSR distrib.

If this RSR deal does not work I may be in the market for a twin plug setup. Oh yeah i do realize I need my heads and rocker covers need a trip to the machine shop as well.

you betcha

Twin plug away. The cooler running just from the timing change alone is worth the effort. If you have access to a mill I can walk you through it. It's not hard, just slow going in spots because of the weird angle you are cutting on for some of the fins. I'ts actually easier on an older mill with some slop in the quill as it lets you know when you are cutting funny (the slack lets the head 'thump' a bit). so you can back off the feed (I do it by hand). I've done three sets so far and only broke one fin because the heads weren't washed clean and the wax didn't stick well.

Thanks for the advise, but I will leave the maching to the experts. Most likely Ollies in Santa Ana!

Path of destruction

Well I did nuke two heads before getting the numbers right, but the T heads are cheap enough not to cry over. I think I got a 'broken set' of 4 for 90 bucks.

It is however easier on the nerves .

So what does Ollies charge? Just curious.
