Intake
Hello All,
I just pulled the intake and injectors off 4,5 and 6 of my '86 stock 3.2L with about 68,000 miles. All of the allen nuts were loose on the intake, one bottom gasket was torn (#4), and there is more gunk around the valves and intake runners and injectors than I expected, although this is all new to me. Here are some photos, if anyone thinks the engine needs work, please let me know. The photos are in order, 4, 5 and 6 for valves and injectors. I am planning on having all six injectors cleaned, and to install new o-rings and intake gaskets at the very least. Thanks! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160086831.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160086886.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160086948.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160087011.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160087075.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160087122.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160087168.jpg |
Those look similiar to what mine looked like. I would check out Witch hunter to get your injectors done. It should include new o-rings and pintle caps with the service. The other thing I would do is rebuild your fuel lines while you have the intake off the car. Mesa Hose is the place to get it done, Carrera3.5L get credit for recommending them, are about $175.00 or if a local company can do it. Factory hoses run about $500:eek:

Thanks Michael...which part of the injector is the pintle cap, the orange plastic on the spray end?
|
That's the part. I sent mine to www.cruzinperformance.com but he is not accepting any work right now due to the death of a close family friend. If you check out his site it shows the parts that are replaced. When I did my engine rebuild I bead blasted the intake and clear powder coated it.

Wow, that looks great! What is the red plastic piece at the threaded end of the fuel line in the second picture?
|
A plastic cap to keep dirt out until the line in connected.
