Header Heat Exchanger size for 3.1 turbo
What do you forum experts think would work best for heat exchangers to use on my 3.1 turbo engined 914-6 during the cold months that I am still able to drive. Would the stock diameter 914-6 exchangers work ok or would the diameter of the tubing be to small, or with a turbo does it even matter.
What size performance pipes do the 930's and C2's run : 1 1/2 ,1 5/8's or 1 3/4's ? |
1 5/8" is very nice.

I know of no benefit to running a large headers on a small displacement turbo engine. A larger header may even cause a slower spool up. 934 factory headers were only 1 1/2 inches and they made 540 hp with cis.
There is some benefit in controlling the heat that escapes through the headers. You may find some reasonable gain by wrapping the headers to hold in the heat.. |
Any heat escaping the headers I would like to direct to the cabin when it's 20º outside and theres frost on the windows.
Henry do you think the stock 914 6 heat exchangers that were designed for a 2 liter would work well for me then? |
I absolutely believe that 1 1/2 inch headers will work magic in your application.
Measure the od of the headers and you'll know what size they are. My guess: 1 1/2 inches. |
Thanks as always Henry!
