**UPDATE 81'SC alternator
First of all, thanks to all for your help in answering my alt q's.
Anyway, here is where it stands: *the car is an 82'SC *the doner engine is an 81' of which has the Marchal alt which requires an external voltage regulator. *I am led to believe that the Marchal alts that use an external volt reg i.e. the little black can that mounts on the left side of the engine bay with all the other electronics, is the more desireable alt for servicing the volt reg and the alt itself is a better design/quality than the others. *If I am doing ok with my logic and understanding so far, than, my questions are as follows: 1. where can I send this alt to be cleaned, tested and sent back looking new, AND,... 2. going this route, what wiring do I need to do i.e. wiring to connect alt to extrnl votl reg, AND where does the black can external volt reg" get mounted to the left side of engine bay? 3. is this going to be a butcher job with spaghetti galore?? I am not up for that if it is the case. **Please make recommendations to avoid spagetti bowl and that wont break the bank. Thanks! Recommendations welcome for rebuild/repair shops...dont think Pelican does this...and where to get parts...please provide p/n so I dont screw this up. |
