Way to go Alphie!!!!
|
Hi Rob,
I have been following your trials and tribulations and glad you finally got it sorted out. Looking forward to seeing you at the track next year and having a listen to your new powerplant. Must feel great to have this accomplished. Great Job!! |
To avoid getting cams 180 out, the numbers or letters or dots on the ends of the cams are up when #1,(left side) is in the Z1 TDC compression position.
Or both upside down when in the Z1 crossover position for #1. When one is up and the other is down, you've got a problem. |
Yes, this is where I got confused. I was trying to follow Wayne's book, the High Duration cam timing section and I got messed as to where the dots are supposed to be.
I, incorrectly thought, that the dot should be up on the right cam when #4 is at TDC. |
Alphie is correct in that Wayne's book is a little unclear about the cam positions. Like 2.7Racer says, the letters (or whatever is on your cams) should BOTH be either up or down. With so may folks having trouble setting the cam timing, I bet this is major source of this error. Maybe this should be added to a list of what to watch out for when rebuilding an engine for the first time.
