o-ring on trough bolt - help

When i tried to test assemble the two case half's, i tried to fit o-rings on one of the trough bolts to se how they get compressed. on the left side case half there is only a very small chamfer in the hole maybe o.25x45deg. when i tighten the bolt 35 NM, a part of the o-ring squeezed out between washer and case.. ?? on the right half the chamfer are much bigger, and leave space for the o-ring but with a little gap so you know it will be compressed after torquing down.

Is it normal that the o-ring squeezed out on the left side ??

The o- rings measuring ø12xø8x2 and are red

normal for the blue ones. that's why everybody uses green viton these days.

Are the green Viton one's another dimension.. smaller ?

have all cases larger chamfer in the right half and nearly nothing in the left one ?

You are correct about the different size chamfer. All the cases I've worked with have had that. The green viton o-rings are stronger and don't seem to "squish" out. Unfortunatly the ones that come in the gasket kit don't seem to be as good. I don't have a source for you on the green viton o-rings but maybe a search will uncover one.

Andy and John, thank you

I found the "Viton" on their homepage, and can se they are available in DK, some i would try to find them over here.

But can somee one determine the size of ø12 x ø8 x 2mm as the
original factory size ??

8x2mm is as close as I could find in a Porsche catalog. Most just called it an O ring.

Green o-rings can be bought from our Host here on Pelican. I got mine not too long ago, they are cheap. Our host is very generous to provide this forum for us it would be nice to support him as well when ever possible.

Best Regards,

Alex
