70 911E check for oil leaks
I have a 70 911E and which after a numberof years is finally arriving at my door this week (very long story). The car was sitting (in a barn) for about 12 years and is in pretty good shape (no rust). The car runs but is leaking oil, a lot. It only has 67K miles and would prefer not to have to drop the engine. I have Wayne's book and know where to look for oil leaks. What I wanted to get was opinions on the best way to check for them. It only leaks when running. I was thinking of getting it cleaned up to remove the old oil, putting the rear up on stands so I could check under it while it is running. If there are some better ways to do this I am open to suggestions.

Put the car up on ramps. Spray the entire engine with degreaser several times. Let the car run a couple of minutes. Let it cool down a couple of minutes. Crawl underneath and look for the leaks.
With it sitting for 12 years you may have other issues; rust in the fuel tank, rust in the brake system, etc.. BTW congrats on the new car. The 2.2E's are my favorite.
