300 Hp from a 3L????

I rarely visit the engine forum, but after reading some threads in the 911 seciton as well as Excellence Mag...about 300 HP N/A engines, 2.8s, and 3.0s...It got me thinking.

How does one do it?????

Hi:

300 HP from a 3.0 isn't difficult.

Early SC/Carrera heads, 10.5:1 CR, the proper cams, 46mm PMO's or an EFI system, twin-ignition, a proper exhaust yields 300+HP depending on the cams.

All it takes is money,..

ah how do i check what my compression is???

I have posted before that i have a 3.7L andial motor, but its only rated 265 HP...and i dont know what my compresson is....

also, unless, i am mistaken it has the 2 into 1, 3.2 exhaust.

DId the 964 also use the same exhaust??? (as 87- 89 carrera)?

i'd think a 3.7L 9.8:1CR, andial motor was making a little more then 265..... have u driven with other porsche guys? maybe a 930? i'm willing to bet that you probably out-paced them, and u probably have more then 265hp, might be the classic case of porsche under-statement...

A lot of it could depend on the induction and cams... A stock 3.0L puts out about 180 HP (60 HP/liter) so a 3.7 with similar cams and induction would logically put out 222HP.

So a 3.7L putting out 265 isn't hard to comprehend really. It will certainly have a nice torque band... As Steve said, it's only a question of money.

ya, i was also.... though i was quoted less then 1/4 of that.... gotta love that...actually i think everything, parts, labour of build, machining etc...totalled me around 13 500.... thats a but load of money, expecially for a broke ass student who though for 11 000 he could get the 330hp 3.5L (looking good), AND a big brake kit....and a helmet.....1/3 isn't very success rate...

anyways.... if u can get me a turbo for 1200 install i can have alot more then 300hp :P
