Thank you Wayne !!!!!!

Thank you Wayne, for THE BOOK. I have just started my new rebuilt engine, and the job was easy with your rebuilding book.

The engine runs great so far, has done the first 20 min. and changed oil and started it again. Its winter in Norway now, so I have to wait until spring to take the car out on the road.

My engine is a SS 3.2 on a -79 SC engine with large ports, 9.8 JE pistons, EBS-springs, 964 cams, SSI-ex, extreemly well blue printed by me and a freind, and still with the K-jet, but its Christmas soon, so maybe there is a set of 46 PMO under the tree !!!!

I look forward to take this to a Dyno test, to see how strong it is. The sound is pretty angry, and the respons is great even with the K-jet.

PS: What will a set of PMOs do to this engine ?

The problem with the PMOs is that you really won't get much more performance out of them without upgrading your cams to a more aggressive profile. If you go with PMO 40s or 46s and a set of 'S' cams or mod-S cams, then you will gain quite a bit of performance and throttle response.

With the S cams and 46 PMOs, what would be the estimated of horsepower in this engine ??

230-235ish? probably. As Wayne said, the cam is the key for you. I'm not sure what type of J&E piston you have, but if it allows more cam, use it! The 964 cam is very mild with lower lift, less overlap and duration. It was designed to take into account the deficiencies of the throttle plate and some other factors.

The same engine with a more aggressive cam will actually work better and probably put out 240-250.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that you will need to shave your pistons too (or get new JEs) to gain enough clearance to run 'S' cams. With pistons, cams and PMOs, I can see 250-275 HP if you tune the engine on a dyno. Possibly a little more HP with an Engine Management system like the Tec3r.

Remember, what really counts is torque off the line and at the lower RPMs - not peak HP. No one I know uses peak HP.

My pistons from JE is the type 9.8 :1 who should confirm to the K-jetronik injeksion system, but they have a very good pocket for the valves, so they mait handle som harder cams, but may be not the S cam. If I still would like to use a set of PMOs in the future, what type of cams do you think this pistons can handle, f.ex. one from GE who is better than the 964 ??
