valve cover studs
Ref Project #17, 21. When removing the lower left valve cover the mounting studs came out with the nuts. Apparently, the studs were treated with anti-sieze on the engine side.
It's been a while since the covers have been off and the studs backed out with the nylock nuts. Question - is it common for the studs to back out of the block? No one talks about this being a problem. What is the best way to re install the studs and properly secure them so they will not back out again? |

No harm done. This happens occassionally. Clean internal and external threads. Apply blue Locktite to the engine side of the stud. Thread on two M8 nuts and lock them together, then use them to install the stud to the same depth as the others.
Hope this helps, Sherwood |
