Pulley Bolt Question, I lost my original..can I use this?
Alright, I lost my original pulley bolt but I found a class 8.8 M12x1.5 in 25 mm length at my local hardware store. It has a minimum tensile strength of 116,000 psi and is zinc plated, is this ok to use with a washer (2mm) of course? If not, does anyone have a 3.2 Carrera (84) pulley bolt and washer that is for an AC unit?
Thanks for your time, Alex |
No, an 8.8 strength class can't be tightened sufficiently and doesn't have the correct locking features to stay tight (see below thread). I suggest you order the correct replacement bolt; twisting off a bolt in a crank or having the pulley loosen are expensive problems.

Jim,
Your a life saver! Thank you very much, the forum you directed me too was very helpful and not to mention avoided a serious problem. I'll order the right bolt! Best Regards, Alex |
I found the darn bolt by complete accident! Yes, project is back in motion!
