porsche 911sc webcam 964 regrind
Years ago, I sent my stock 911SC cams out to web cam for a regrind to a grind # 40 (porsche 911 C2/C4 3.6L) which I assume means a 964 spec.
In the timing spec they sent me, it stated to set them at 1.7-1.9 mm. As I am in the course of another rebuild using the same cams, I called them again to verify these settings were still correct. They told me now to use 1.25 mm with a lash of .1 mm. I used to run these cams for about 5 years at the 1.75 setting with no problem. Can anyone provide some clarification here as to what the real setting should be? I hae installed new pistons from an 83 SC which are 9.3:1 CR in lieu of the stock pistons at 8.5:1 thanx in advance.

I have seen that also in the spec books. Not sure what the consequences of running with a much higher value of say 1.7 or if it really makes that much difference

I have 964 regrinds by John Dougherty and was quoted 1.26mm. I thought that is what Wayne's book says also in the tech specs section.
