deck height
I measured deck height tonight and got .055 (In inches) I measure a stock sc engine I have also and that measured .075(in inchs)
just go through what i am dealing with is a the following 98mm JE pistons Low compression turbo application(8.0-1) 3.0 sc bottom end with no offset on the rods 92 cc twin plug sc heads What are you guys shooting for for deck height ?? Thanks so much for your time |
Time to CC the set up and adjust the deck height for the target CR. It is fun...........

92cc heads I posted that info already;)

I shoot for no more than .040" (.1mm) per Steve Wiener's recommendation of .035-.040". I've measured higher on a stock 964 motor but your SC measurements seem kinda high.
Have you decked the case spigots yet? -Chris |
You still don't know what the CR wil be if all you have is the head volume. You might want to measure the piston dome voume as well.

henry had spec'd these out as 8-1 CR with stock sc heads(The Je pistons almost are flat with very little dome and valve releifs cut in them already) which is pretty much what I have nothing was machined on the heads other then chamfering and the twin plugging I should restate I measured the 78 sc engine my garage(stock motor) and that measured considerably higher then mine.. |
If you have the case apart you can have a local machinist "clean up" the spigot sealing surface. This will give you a nice "true" foundation for the cylinder+head+cam carrier stack and get you a better deck height as a bonus.
How are you measuring your deck height? -Chris |
dial cailper in 3 spots 120 degrees apart. Case is together now. I have read a bunch on this and allot of folks are suggesting that 1.2-1.3 mm is good to go for a turbo engine what do you think?

I will try the solder method.. I am not real concerned with valves hitting more so to control detonation Thanks guys oh and last question is why would that stock sc have higher deck height then what I have hear??
