Are 2.2 and 2.4 CV/Axles the Same?
Just as the Subject line says. Are the 2.2 CV Axles/Shafts that fit on a 901 gearbox the same as the 2.4 CV Axle/Shafts that fit on a 915 box? Are they interchangeable?

The output flange on the trans is slightly different. The diameter of the bearing surface is 1 mm larger on the 915 flange then on the 911 (not 901) gearbox. It's a small thing to find a machine shop to turn down that 1 mm. I had to do this when I put trailing arms and axles from a '76 on my '69.

What do you mean by 911 tranny and not 901?
|
The 901 transaxle was used through 1969 and used the push-style clutch. The 911 transaxle was used in '70 and '71. The gear cluster and most of the mechanicals were essentially the same between the two transaxles, but the 911 used a pull-type clutch similar to the later 915 transaxles.
