carpet question on old 75 911s

Ive had this 75 911s targa for awhile now.. i spilled something on passenger side floor mat.. had to take it out and realized there is no carpet under it, i see floor pan..

is it suppose to be like that? Or should there be carpet..

Good suggestions for getting new carpet set?

A picture would help however it's possible that what you are describing as the floor mat is the carpet itself. That's kind of what they were like. If the mat is consistent in material and edging then I would say that is indeed the case...

If it had Porsche written on it, it was a mat and not carpet. There should have been an original carpet piece under it then.
