Dear Porsche Folks
these are the weird rods I had in my engine. Who is able to explain what´s behind these numbers. Which numbers fit as a pair and which not. Greetings 815 535 637 519 615 560 ![]() |

If the numbers are the same on each side of the seam, they're a match. The numbers themselves have no meaning, they're just there for matching the end cap to the rod.

Right. You might have a non-matching set of rods that have been carefully balanced that are much better than an OEM numbers-matching matching set.

I agree with Jim. You seem to have a normal set of rods there.

are you new to the Porsche world ? or just new to this forum..reason I ask is make sure you do a little home work and ask Q here. Make sure you use new rod bolts is probly more important then rod weight.

Afterburn are these rod bolts are stretch bolts. How come the original service manual never mandatory mentioned to replace the rod bolts.
Did you never ever thought that the rods have a different weight classification. How was Porsche mark them for production. A guy who weight them before installing. There must be more like this. A coding for example. I´ll have 6 gramm weight differents over all in the rods, and 3,2 gramm on the whrist pin. Bob the rookie. And you might be right, that you are much older than me. So I can drive my 911 much longer than you. Greetings Take it easy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by HKZ Bob; 01-08-2007 at 08:52 PM.. |

1st off, I dont know it all, and if its not Arp BOLTS or something like them they are a one time use deal, Rod weights- Buy a gram scale and have some fun...there has been long threads on this but you dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure closer to "0' is better then from the big Zero.
I balanced my whole engine to "0"..not saying it actually is, but for sure it is a lot closer then the factory did
