3.2 heads
On the subject of 3.0 builds. Are 3.2 heads a bolt-on? I'm searching for an alternative to my 81' small port heads. I have access to a set of 3.2's, but searching for a good set of early large port heads hasn't been cost effective. Thanks in advance!

HI shbop The 3.2 heads are OK , the only thing you will need is a spacer for the inlet manifold, as you can see from the photo below the SC head has a longer port than the 3.2, the 3.2 head is the left one and the SC head is off a 83 car,

Mike, I'm going to run a pair of 40 IDA's. Would the phenallic spacer account for the difference in height?

HI yes but it is the wrong shape for the SC / carb' manifold, order some manifolds from Pelican or PMO for a 3.2 engine and you will have no prob's fitting then as the flange is all-ready sorted.

Thanks Mike. With the induction-side sorted, would you consider this a better direction than the early, large-port heads, or the same?
|
HI if the heads are the right price and in good condition I would go with the 3.2 as the port size is better, 38 SC and 42 for the 3.2.

3.2 heads are a direct bolt on when you run carbs the spacer isn't an issue. You may need to nip a bit around the fiberglass shroud to make the fit easier on the shroud. 3.2 heads flow great, big valves, big ports. If you don't have to comply with a strict set of race class rules, a nice upgrade to a 3.0 build.
