Preston,

Nothing wrong with shocking this one back to the world of the living!.

Here's what I've accomplished:

Case media-tumbled, all studs black oxide coated and oiled, zoop seal on exposed aluminum
Chain boxes and covers glass bead blasted, surfaced and zoop sealed
Cam towers media tumbled, spraybars removed, additional holes drilled, replaced and valve cover sealing surfaces welded up and surfaced, studs replaced
Cylinders glass beaded and match-honed to custom JE pistons
JE 81mm 9,5:1 pistons with coated skirts and custom ring package
Rods rebuilt and balanced under 1g with ARP hardware
Custom DR Camshafts- Supercup on 102
Heads rebuilt by Anchor Atlantic with new valves, springs, guides and seals
Heads CC'd
Cast rockers rebushed, crack tested and ground, rocker shafts polished with all new pinch bolts and nuts
All hardware Cadmium Plated, black oxide coated or replaced as appropriate
Engine tin powder coated
Carburetors rebuilt by Bieker Engineering
Intermediate shaft sprockets replaced (pressed on old shaft)
Crankshaft micropolished. . . twice. . .

. . . OK, I left the crankshaft, freshly micropolished, in the garage, sprayed down liberally with WD-40. It rusted. I had it micropolished but the rust was too much.

So now I'm on hold looking for a new STD/STD 66mm crank. I think I have one identified, just have to go get it . . . I will need a set of STD rod bearings as mine were .50 undersize, the crank had been reground before. (It will live again with a 2" Buick journal. . . :))

Well, I have one more thing to figure out, that's the original finish on the magnesium manifolds.

I have sealants, assembly lubes, clean-room wipes, Eastwood PRE for cleaning everything, all required tools except the Stomski alignment tool and through-bolt o-ring tool.

Now I just need some time to get it stitched up.

Sweet lil motor! But u know that!

Any one recomended sandblasting the manifolds with /without clear coat of urethane?

John,

Look through your pen drawer for an o-ring tool. I found the cap to a ball-point pen, and it was just perfect for sliding those little guys into place.

Uhmmmm,

Mr. Cramer, no, you do not have ALL your parts. I have a bag sitting in my office with your name on it.

Question.....what finish did you want on the sump plate. I powder coated it along with the remaining tin. It occured to me after the fact and the last time we spoke I forgot to ask.

My bad????? I will bead blast it and send to it the cad man if needed..

John,

Did you find the time yet to assemble your engine? Pictures?

Thanks

Richard

Richard,

Not assembled just yet, still have to do P/C but the race car has taken precedence at this point in the season. Depending on what happens with 304065 the engine may take a different direction (e.g. MUCH bigger displacement). . . stay tuned.

Interesting development.

So will your street car end up being faster than your race car ??????:confused::)

Not sure yet, but if it is, it will only be in a straight line. :)
