Pilot bearing with fat flange

I ordered a new pilot bearing for an early 911 flywheel. When it arrived I pressed it in the flywheel and found it was not flush with the surface. I pressed it out and measured both the flywheel and the pilot bearing. The recess in the flywheel is 2.0mm. The old pilot bearing has a flange that is 1.8mm wide. The new pilot bearing has a flange that is 2.5mm wide and hence sticks up by about 0.5mm after being pressed in.

Has anyone else seen this? I assume that it is not OK to install the flywheel if the bearing protrudes beyond the surface of the flywheel at all. Right?

Here is a photo of the old and new pilot bearings

I asked the supplier to send another one, and this one has a flange that is 2.2mm wide. At this point I just machined off 0.2mm of the flange to make it fit.
