Replace clutch?
I'm rebuilding the engine of my '82SC. Since I'm doing a complete rebuild, I had just assumed I'd put in a clutch kit. I'm looking at the clutch now, and wondering if it, in fact, needs replacing. The engine was not functional when I bought the car, so I don't really know how the clutch was performing. The thickness of the clutch disc is well within spec, but when I run my finger across the pressure plate I can feel some wavyness - no deep grooves, but not perfectly flat. Can the pressure plate be re-surfaced?
Thanks. Geoff

I think if it doesn't look oily and the thickness is OK I would just use it. The engine pull is not that bad if you have to replace it later. Cleanup the pressure plate to remove any residue of old clutch disk and give the TO bearing a good feel to make sure it is OK.
