how to ID: early/late layshafts?
Hi everyone.
I'm hoping to educate myself on telling the difference (visually) between the early aluminum case lay shafts versus the later ones that came in the mag cases. I would also be interested in learning how they wear out and what I need to look for as I search for an early spare for my future rebuild. I was given this picture of an early one, but don't have a late picture to compare to. ![]()

Specs for the shaft diameter are different. They are in the spec book or Wayne's book.
