Head retorque 3.6
I just finished my first rebuild on my 3.6L motor over the summer. After putting about 300-400 track miles on it since the rebuild, I am going to check/adjust the valves and check/ retorque the head bolts this weekend. At the original assembly of the heads, I followed the factory manual method for tightening the head bolts: 1st stage 15 Nm, 2nd stage 90 deg more.
Can anyone tell me if the retorque method should follow the same procedure? SO far , I haven't been able to locate a final torque value to shoot for, so I am assuming that I need to use the 90 deg angle method. BUt it sure would be easier to loosen them one at a time and be able to retorque them to one value. Thanks, Dave J

I have never heard of doing a head re-torque on any Porsche engine that is assembled with the angle torque method.
I have also never seen any loose head nuts on disassembly of one of these engines. I would do a leakdown test and adjust the valves and call it good. |
