Case Studs Question

Looking for a little last-minute advice on a stock 2.4, most machine shops who want to provide their services for money (of course!) tell me to always do case savers and new head studs when rebuilding an engine...other people who do not own shops, but are very experienced have told me the stock 2.4 is not very stressed and this in unnecessary...any comments?

Thanks.

Do case savers and if the studs are good you can re-use them. If you go for nikasil cylinders you may want to upgrade to betters studs. Better safe than sorry, it sure would be terrible if you pulled a stud later on down the road.

The common answer is that if you use iron sleeved cylinders (stock Biral) then you don't need case savers. I have pulled several studs on my mag case just trying to assemble it. I would have timecerts or case savers done on the headstuds and the several other studs that are common problems on mag cases. You don't need new headstuds if yours are not dilivar and look ok.
