46mm intake ports

Hi there,

I have a stock 2.7 which I want to re-build to the following spec.

2.7 L
GE 60 Cams
40MM webers
JE Pistons

Now my question is about valve size the stock motor runs 32mm
intake.

I know some one who can sell me a set of 46/40 heads, is this size to big for my set up? how will it change the way the car drives?

help greatly appricated

Matt

Matt:

Those heads would be FAR too big for a 2.7 with those cams, even a full-on 300+ HP race engine,...

I think you'll do OK with 38mm intake and 36 mm exhaust ports with the proper headers and muffler system. Use stock intake valves (or maybe 2mm larger) and stock exhaust valves. Seats must be cut to fit.

There are some custom valves that outflow the OEM ones, too.

I think I got it wrong, the Valves are 46 mm intake and 40 mm exhaust.

The guy who has them said they are used on the 2.7 RS engine

Oohhh,....thats different, yes?

46/40 valves work great on RS spec engines with 36mm & 35mm ports.

I am in the same boat,

76' 2.7 with 9.5 JEs, Mod s cams and 40mm webbers.
The question is 38mm/36mm or 36mm/35mm ports?
