Problem SC Distributor drive gear on the crank
We put together a new 9.8 :1 Euro SC rebuild. The machine shop apparently messed up the distributor drive gear and replaced it with what looks like a new Porsche part. It simi-destroyed itself in 2 hours of running along with breaking 3 rotors. It appears that the engagement depth between the distributor gear and brass crank gear is to deep. We tore it all down last night and found the crank gear to be 59.5mm od. A measured known good working one showed 58mm od. Any ideas what is going on here?

If that distributor is a clockwise rotating unit, they used a 3.2 driven gear which is slightly larger and will definitely damage the drive gear. If it is a counter clockwise unit I have no answer for you. That sucks..

I looked through a bunch of drive gears and did find a different height SC gear. Pretty rare bird on this side of the pond.
